real life writer

now I am real, because I have a website

Greetings and salutations, to those who have made their way here! I could not be more excited to welcome you to my spiffy new website, which proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that I am a real-life writer. Not that it was in question, but a website makes it all seem more real for me.

Here is how it happened: For Christmas, I decided to give a gift to myself and hire a professional website developer to build this site for me. I wanted to add some pages and enhance my blog with the option for real-life people to put in their email and subscribe. ( and note that you can do that at any time, on the landing page or on one of the individual posts.) I was able to add a page About Me. What fun is that? I also got to add a page describing the services that I provide to homeschool families, so that I can direct inquiries there instead of trying to communicate through Facebook messenger and losing messages and appearing, not like the professional consultant I am, but like a hapless wonder just learning to use a computer. It does not exactly inspire confidence.

The last page I got to add is one called “Coming Attractions”. This will be where I put up news and information about my book. I might add an excerpt or advertise for beta readers. Who knows? The internet sky is the limit, right? And someday in the future, when all my dreams come true and my book is published (by me, a publisher, so many options) I can use that page to promote and SELL MY BOOK.

I need to sit down for a second. Breathe in, breathe out.

Okay, so that is what this is all about. I will continue to help find the funny in the heart of teaching, dissing diet culture, and supporting homeschool families in their learning. This is where all my topics come together and have some kind of website party. If you are in the market for a website developer, I can highly recommend mine. She is talented, knowledgeable, and extremely reasonable with her pricing. She has been so patient with my limited technology aptitude and walked me through the steps to using my website in a competent manner.

It is weird how excited I am to see my name in text across the top of this site. It makes me feel a little famous, even if it is just a small corner of the world. A corner is enough for now. Come back soon.
